Businesses and the Campus
Innovation is a priority in the area south of Paris. Within a fifteen-kilometre radius around the campus, there are many businesses, major groups, SME-SMIs, and test centres. There are many existing relationships between these businesses and the institutions affiliated with the campus. Other, more distant businesses have also developed links with the campus. This is how researchers involved in the Campus Operation have come to work with fifty major groups. Similarly, strong links have been developed with the seven competitiveness clusters: Advancity, Astech, Cap Digital, Finance Innovation, Medicen, Mov'eo and Systematic Paris-Région. The priority activity sectors for interaction between campus and industry are:
- Energy, engineering, and the iron and steel industry
- Agriculture, agro-industry, bioprocesses, environment
- Pharmacy, biology-health, chemistry
- Transport
- Information and communication technologies
- Services and consumer goods
Within this same fifteen-kilometre radius, there are many innovative SMEs and start-ups that have come out of the research sector. Some sectors such as the food industry, energy, information and communication technologies, and health, are especially promising for medium-sized businesses.
