PEEPS
The objective of the Pôle Entrepreneuriat Etudiant Paris Saclay [Paris Saclay Student Entrepreneurship Cluster] is to promote a taste for managed risk and the pleasure associated with an entrepreneurial approach to students.
Above all, entrepreneurship is a state of mind and a question of mentality. Acting through the educational system is the only long-term way to be able to fundamentally change the country's entrepreneurial capacity and desire. The education one receives can influence the manner in which each person perceives creativity, the pleasure of business, and risk-taking. It must stimulate the desire to try, to propose new approaches, to launch new actions, to work with personalities with different profiles and educational backgrounds. Higher education can sometimes hinder the ability and desire to work with individuals of different profiles whose issues and vocabulary are different.
Objectives
The establishment of the Pôle Entrepreneuriat Etudiant Paris Saclay, called PEEPS, has several objectives, which are:
- To initiate a profound change in people's perception of entrepreneurship. By proposing (in time) a positive view of entrepreneurship to the entire student population at Paris Saclay, the Pôle Entrepreneuriat Etudiant Paris Saclay aims to train ambassadors able to propagate this message to their groups and to all people that they meet during their careers.
This positive approach was established as part of a broad-based project to raise awareness in 7,000 students from the DUT (2-year University Technology Degree) to the doctorate, and for which the framework and approach will be adopted gradually by all higher education institutions within the scope.
- To create a coherent and concerted continuum to raise awareness about entrepreneurship and business development, especially for medium-sized businesses. New business development will be strengthened through the establishment of the campus plan for the Saclay Plateau, the ParisTech Innovation Management Research and Education Programme (PIMREP) and the close interaction of these actors with the support structures (IncubAlliance incubator, the incubators of the CAPS [Communauté d’Agglomération du Plateau de Saclay- Saclay Plateau Municipal Agglomeration], System@tic Competitiveness cluster, OpticsValley Network, Scientipôle Initiative) and actors from the economic sector (ALTRAN pr[i]me, association pour le développement des entreprises du parc d'activités de Courtaboeuf, du Plateau de Saclay, de Limours, de Marcoussis, et des environs [ADEZAC - Association for Business Development for the Courtaboeuf Business Park, the Saclay Plateau, Limours, Marcoussis, and the surrounding area]), Business Angels Finance & Technologie, Centre de Formation d’Apprentis Union (Union Apprentice Training Centre), Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de l’Essonne (Essonne Chamber of Commerce), Cercle des Jeunes Entrepreneurs (Young Entrepreneurs Circle), and Paris-Île-de-France Capitale Economique, who belong to the shared framework. The structures attached to the institutions will also be involved, such as the Association de Recherche Technologie et Sciences (Association for Technology and Science Research), the Centre d’études et de recherche Arts et Métiers ParisTech, and ParisTech Entrepreneurs.
