Double degree program between the Paris-Sud 11 University, Ecole Centrale Paris and Supélec
Tuesday 09 november 2010A cooperation agreement for a double degree program between the University Paris-Sud 11, Ecole Centrale Paris and Supélec was signed on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. The development of this cooperative academic course, which is part of the Paris-Saclay Campus operation, demonstrates the intention of these three institutes to strengthen their ties.
Through the establishment of a double degree program, the Paris-Sud 11 University, Ecole Centrale Paris and Supélec hope to promote student mobility between universities and private Grandes Ecoles (“Ivy League” schools) in France. This program is based on a course which combines with the third year of a bachelor’s degree (L3) or the first year of a Master's degree at the Faculty of Sciences, Paris-Sud 11 University for the first phase, with a second phase at the Ecole Centrale Paris or Supélec in the "engineering" cycle, and a third phase in the final year of the Master's degree or the second year of the Master (M2) at the Paris-Sud 11 University. This course aims to make scientific careers, resulting in a doctorate and research, more appealing. It also allows students to enhance their courses by exposing them to different educational environments.
This agreement signifies the commitment by the Paris-Sud 11 University, Ecole Centrale Paris and Supélec towards a greater cooperation, particularly in the context of the "Paris-Saclay Campus" operation. This represents an important milestone in eliminating the University/Private School divide in France, in mixing student populations for diversity, and in the emergence of large higher education and research structured clusters.
